Dental Exams & Cleaning Richmond, VA
Everyone knows that brushing and flossing every day is the key to keeping your teeth clean and happy. What a lot of people tend to forget is that in addition to the habits of brushing and flossing you need to see your dentist at least twice a year so that they can help you with all the things you miss. At Fred Knaysi DDS, PC, we want to remind you how important it is that you come in to see us! We will make sure your teeth are sparkling and perfect after every visit.
X-rays are a great tool that we use to see what is going on inside of your mouth and between your teeth. You probably won’t get an X-ray every single time you come in to our office for a cleaning and examination but it’s pretty likely that you will have an X-ray at least once a year. With our digital X-ray machine, we have the ability to show you your X-rays right away in high definition. We can zoom in on particular areas of the mouth to better see details that we might otherwise miss.
Digital X-rays help to cut down on the time that it takes to treat you and allow us to more accurately diagnose issues like cavities, oral cancers, cysts, and impacted teeth. This allows us to provide you with higher quality service at a lower price.
With our cleaning procedures, our goal is to give your teeth a chance to start over without anything holding them back. Even though you may be practicing the proper brushing techniques and brushing two times a day for two minutes at a time, you still stand a good chance of missing the hard to reach areas – that’s where we come in.
When bacterial plaque has a chance to build up on your teeth, after a while it will harden into a substance known as tartar. Tartar is impossible to remove with any at home oral hygiene methods or tools. When we find caked on tartar we use a tool known as an ultrasonic scaler to remove it. This tool uses ultrasonic vibrations and an antimicrobial wash to break up and wash away tartar.
We finish every cleaning by polishing your teeth. Polishing your teeth leaves them smooth and white, and makes it difficult for bacteria and plaque to stick to their surface.
Once we have finished cleaning your teeth Dr. Knaysi will be ready to give them a thorough examination. During an exam Dr. Knaysi checks your teeth for signs of decay, chips, cracks, and alignment issues. He is always looking for signs of oral cancer as well as cysts and other oral maladies.
